Recently, the new Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Ballore, announced that by 2025, Jaguar would officially become an electric car brand. Amid the same announcement, it emphasised that Jaguar will only manufacture electric cars and that JLR will leave SUVs to the Land Rover Brand. This was a huge announcement that caused other key automobile companies to rethink the cars they manufacture.

The main idea, in this case, is to reposition Jaguar on another market segment. In the next few years, it is going to be a very different car, with Jaguar I-PACE being the main model. The brand is set to be distinct from Land Rover and will become available for willing buyers by 2025.

What’s next?

Gerry McGovern, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, has the task of leading the team and ensuring that the anticipated model is available by the time stated. The new design strategy is not out yet, and that is another project they must begin with to make the dream a reality. This also means that the company must have excellent design architecture.

Bollore also stated that Jaguar would leverage a very unique platform architecture, which means it will let go of the current modular internal combustion MLA (Modular Longitudinal Architecture)/electric platform. The upcoming Electronic Modular Architecture (EMA) will be handed over to Land Rover. The company will develop a new work philosophy that will enable it to come up with an electric vehicle that will fully satisfy the needs of users.

Recently, Jaguar XJ had been listed on the MLA platform and was to be shown this year before going fully on sale in 2022. Unfortunately, it has been wiped out because the company is going to operate on a new platform. The CEO stated that, unfortunately, the next-generation Jaguar XJ does not fit the company’s new positioning. It should be noted that this is a decision that has received a lot of criticism from experts in different parts of the globe. Bollore stated that it was a huge decision, and at the end of the day, it was significant.

About an All-Electric Platform

Currently, the all-electric platform is in its early stages of development. The overall design will depend on the primary design strategy for the cars that would be produced by the automobile company. The company should operate on an excellent platform to gain a strong market presence.

It is upon the designers to independently come up with something that would best suit the company’s objectives and goals, but they will need to take their time and come up with the best. They should, however, note that proportion is a crucial thing, and it will dictate the platform.

Compact Electric Jaguar

By the time Bollore joined JLR, the plan was that a new tiny Jaguar crossover was to be developed to rival Tesla’s Model Y and Model 3, as well as the new Polestar 2. This is a plan that has not been forgotten since it still has a lot of support from the panel. Nick Rogers, the Director of Engineering, stated in 2020 that the idea of a small electric car is great and that they are still thinking about it.

The company has a dream of being in a better place, and clearly, their customers would like for them to be there. The company has the idea of going fully electric in 2025. It is a plan that is relevant at this time, when the environment matters more than anything else.

Julian Thomson, the design boss, is a huge fan of smaller vehicles and would like to work on the project as soon as possible. Thomson recently stated that developing smaller cars would be a project that is worth working on. They are a luxury EV that can perfectly reflect what is going on around the world at this time. Thomson also stated that it would be exciting to work on Jaguars that are smaller, highly efficient, and those that come with all the things that buyers are looking for.

It is believed that such ideas are the ones that caused the company to focus its goal on coming up with electric cars in the next few years. Gerry McGovern stated that they are already working with the team to develop a design strategy for the next generation Jaguar, and it will be huge.

How is the process done?

At the moment, it is hard to really tell how the company would do it. However, in the past, whenever they needed to come up with new models, they underwent intense creative intellectual steps, and they used words that were written down to help define the future. It is thought that the same philosophy would be applied to design the futuristic Jaguar I-PACE.

It is a process that takes time because any form of inaccuracy might affect the quality of the automobile. The EV industry keeps getting sophisticated, and by the time the car will be ready, the buyers’ expectations shall have gone critically high. The design strategy might also evolve with time, and new methods could be applied to design a model that buyers would find irresistible.

Jaguar i-pace

For many years, the company has hinted at its plan to enter the EV industry with a thud, and now is the time to show the world what they have in store. It is anticipated that the future Jaguars will have some reflection of the past, even if they are going to be modern and exquisite in every sense of the word. It is all about capturing that sense of heritage instead of the retrospective feel and look.

Final words

In 2025, with the help of electric vehicle technology, the new models of Jaguar will be ready. We don’t really expect the vehicle to be very affordable, but it will be worth every penny. Currently, the company is working on the project and should be ready at the time stated. It is believed that many other automobile companies will embrace the EV industry, so the future has some exciting secrets that are worth waiting for.
